Our improvisation-based, acoustic music is rooted in the Eastern musical traditions.
Our program consists of longer compositions with rather meditative tones, which are influenced the most by the North Indian (Hindustani) music as well as shorter, more song-like, “easier-to-dance” pieces that have sources in the Middle Eastern traditions.
László Fügedi has been studying and playing Eastern music for almost ten years. He learnt to play the tabla from Tibor Mótyán for three years, and he has been playing on the Turkish lute called saz for seven years, on which he performs mainly his compositions. His other instrument is the Kashmirian santoor (Indian hammered dulcimer) which he learnt to play in India from Pinak Bhattacharya and keeps perfecting his technique with the help of Jonathan Voyer (Canada).
Tibor Mótyán has been playing intensively his instrument, the tabla for more than ten years. He has traveled to India several times where he had the chance to learn from masters such as Pt. Vinod Lele, Abhijit Banerjee or Pinak Bhattacharya. Earlier he was a member of Gayan Uttejak Orchestra established by László Hortobágyi and has participated in several recordings.
