Exhibition of Péter Köblös
The canvases with their nudity and wobbling surfaces may enter various layers in time. They are perishable like meat, in which the majority of inspirations have conceived. At the same time they are the forerunners of Supremity. The surface ignores the future, such as pure memory does, it is active in „hic et nunc” („here and now”). It bears more resemblance with dreams or rather with symbols: a symbol itself refers to signified items in a timeless way. As for the aspect of time a memory is closer to its concept of recurring time in the Ancient Near East than the usual linear time concept. Memories spring to life, evolve, change, perish, and make an impact. In other words: live.
