What does it mean to be a “new member” at a professional community such as the Studio of Young Photographers (FFS)? Becoming a member is mostly a process that can be best determined by two important aspects: on one hand the entering members bring along their previous knowledge, experiences and artistic practices; on the other hand they open to a collaboration, that enhances the deepening of their knowledge on a professional scale, thus revealing new paths. The annual debut exhibition this year introduces the new members by putting their past activities and their future approaches in a frame. The new members (17 photographers and 3 theoreticians ) present two types of work: they combine completed and ongoing projects. The completed works determined their acceptance to the community, while the new projects have been shaped under the influence of this exhibition. In the light of this exhibition, becoming a new members is a process that has just started for these twenty people. The aim of the exhibition is to provide an impression of this point of the process – by focusing on the future approaches from a present perspective.

The preparation and organizing of the exhibition also meant the formation of a new community, therefore it is the imprint of them getting acquainted with each other. The debut is the outcome of a collaboration, that has been determined by collective decisions and cooperations shaped along the preparation – therefore some works communicate in the exhibition space. We have found collective decision making an important aspect: using not only the walls of Fuga but the entire space itself, that is why some spatial elements serve as presenting the new works and the newborn collaborations.
