Mapping Budapest
workshop/walk with Jessica Dolby

Facebook event

Jessica is an artist from the UK whose work is an investigation of walking, space and site. Working predominantly with drawing and found objects, she creates installations that can be ‘experienced’. Jessica is currently based in Budapest on a residency at MÜSZi – Művelődési Szint, where she is engaged in mapping the city.

Jessica is inviting you to join her for an afternoon workshop, to explore the concept of psychogeography and the city of Budapest from an alternative point of view.

Jessica says “The most important part of this workshop is the journey to it- let’s meet at a location in Budapest, together, for the first time- but don’t hurry there. Take a wander. Take a dérive. Take a different path that you never go down, look up at things you haven’t noticed before. Take photos, take a deep breath, pick up something discarded as rubbish and treasure it”.

Bring items with you that will enhance your walk and the workshop- a camera, recorder, video tape, GPS maps, objects you want to leave behind, pencils, a notebook – anything you like. When you reach the destination, there will be a chance to share your findings, have a chat about our reactions and find and create an installation in the space.
